Male', MALDIVES - Zone six champion Kalhaidhoo targets to reach the first division this year, says club manager Hussain. Kalhaidhoo from Laamu Atoll had been quite impressive in FAM ranking last year, placing in the 7th position and are in full gear already for the upcoming zone 1-8 tournament.

Foundation for Vilufushi Development (FVD) outclassed Kalhaidhoo last year. FVD later played in zone 1-8 final and managed to avoid the bottom of Dhiraagu Dhivehi League.

Kalhaidhoo is preparing under a Nigerian coach and added former Hurriyyaa players such as keeper Ishaaq Easa, Defender Nadheem, Midfielder Abdullah Ibrahim and striker Mausoom Abdul Gafoor to their squad. In addition to that former Victory player Onu Keneth, a Sri Lankan player and a Nigerian playing in India league have been included in the squad.

Teams that are qualified to the zone 1-8 tournament are; Magulas Club , Kulhudhuffushi (zone 1), Miladhoo Sports Club (zone 2), Juvenile, Naifaru(zone 3), Thoddoo Sosun Club (zone 4), Mulaku Ekuveringe Jamiyyaa (zone 5), Kalhaidhoo (zone 6), Thinadhoo Zuvaanunge club (zone 7), Island Community, Addu (zone 8).
